The event brought together government authorities, ICAO experts, border agencies, travel document issuers, and industry partners to explore how international standards, emerging technologies, and real-world implementation can jointly advance secure and interoperable travel.
In line with this year’s theme, “Putting Trust into Practice: Towards Trusted Travel Identity for All,” EMPTECH highlighted two complementary priorities: translating AI-driven innovation into reliable practice at national scale, and strengthening document security and verification. Together, these efforts support a shared objective: helping authorities turn technological advances into consistent, standards-aligned identity operations.
Putting AI-Driven Innovation into Practice at National Scale
As AI moves into identity and border operations, authorities need consistent, reliable results across different systems and operating environments. Drawing on national-scale deployment experience, EMPTECH addressed this challenge in its SkyTalk, “Putting AI into Practice: Advancing Consistency and Trust in Traveller Identification.”
The focus was on how AI can improve enrollment data quality, strengthen quality control during issuance, and give border officers clearer evidence for authentication. By connecting these capabilities, EMPTECH helps authorities preserve trust throughout the lifecycle, ensuring that identity information captured at enrollment remains consistent during issuance and verifiable at the border.
That continuity begins with reliable identity data. EMPTECH’s enrollment portfolio integrates dFace, its AI-powered photo quality assurance solution. Combining image capture, automated quality assessment, and image enhancement, dFace supports high-quality, standards-compliant portraits from the outset. This first quality gate helps reduce image-related failures in biometric matching, credential personalization, and subsequent identity verification.
Building Stronger Trust into Identity Documents
Secure issuance must preserve both the accuracy of identity data and the integrity of the credential that carries it. At Booth 11, EMPTECH debuted PhotonShield™, a highly personalized optical security feature that reflects its sustained investment in document security research and innovation. This development demonstrates EMPTECH’s ability to advance anti-counterfeiting technologies for high-security identity documents, helping authorities strengthen credential protection and sustain trust throughout the document lifecycle.

From Document Reading to Evidence-Based Verification
The trust built into a document must also be verifiable at the border, where reading data alone does not establish authenticity. Making its debut at ICAO TRIP 2026, EagleEye DuoInspect combines passport reading and inspection in a single AI-assisted workflow. With one passport placement, it captures both pages and reads printed and chip data. Multispectral imaging reveals physical security features for comparison with trusted document references.
By bringing these checks together, EagleEye DuoInspect reduces repeated handling and gives officers a clearer basis for authentication. It supports more consistent inspection decisions while preserving professional judgment, helping authorities streamline traveller processing and maintain rigorous document examination.
